Tn connection with the Italian State Lottery, for which a hunchback named Torraca gave tips, it is estimated that Torraca was responsible for pouring into the coffers of the State 100,(XX),000 lire, sufficient to pay the annual charges on the debt to Britain and America. One office iu Naples had to suspend operations owing to the density of the crowd. Faith in the prophet may wane because to-day there has been ho report of any numbers given by him being successful.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
