CHAMPIONSHIP ATHLETICS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir. Why is the forthcoming athletic meeting to lie held on the Caledonian Ground? Does Hie venire not know the advantages of the Carisbrnok ? Willi the present unsettled weather, the huge grandstand at Carisbrook would provide accommodation lor so many spectators that, the financial result of the meeting would almost be assured, wet or fire. I understand, 100. that the Carislirook is the faster track, as instanced by the splendid achievements of the late Gerald Keddell and the famous sprinter Duffy. And many folk would go a long way to sec a race where a, world’s record might be broken. Possibly the “ C:ile.” is being obtained for a very small charge, or the cricket matches may be a bar. Whatever the trouble, I would like the centre to endeavor to get the Carisbrook for some of the Inter fixtures. 1 am. etc., Spectator. February 16.
