YSIIIIG BARRISTER'S FATE CORONER'S CRITICISAIS. LONDON. December 28. A story of disappointed lore, culminating in the lover's suicide alter treatment by a psycho-analyst, was told today in the Coroner's Court. Raymond Annitnge, a barrister, aged 28 yeans, was madly attached to a girl. AVlieu she left him the depression into which ho was thrown became so acute that he visited a psycho-analyst for treatment, with the result that he became morhid and introspmive, and finally committed suicide by jumping from his bedroom window. [The psycho-analytic method seeks to cure hysteria, mental depression, or nervous breakdown by revealing tho suhconscioTis fears and wishes which, through being repressed by the conscious’self, are said to cause, tho trouble. The method proceeds either by analysing tho patient's dreams or by giving him “word association tests” to discover how ho will respond to ccriaiu ideas. The medical prolossion. is divided as to the value, of the method; there is evidence that in some cases practitioners aro unqualified or irresponsible persons, who take advantage of the patient’s confidence, especially in the. ease of young people. In a recently reported instance a mental ‘‘healer” was convicted on a charge of obtaining money by false pretences. Tho evidence showed that young girls came to his rooms alone for discussions on sex subjects.]
