Bray Bros., Ltd., report as follows for week ended to-day:—The ciiuti market is iirm. Very little cliaa is coining to hand, and most of the lines offering that axe good quality are readily placed. Medium and ' poorquality is slow of sale. The oat market is quiet, but firm, and stocks are m small compass. F.o.b. values are round about 4s lOd for A grade and 4s Cd for B’s. There are a few inquiries from the North Island for spread delivery next vear. The wheat market is quiet. Very "little business is passing except for fowl wheat. Supplies for this purpose aro being drawn from Canterbury and Australia. Canterbury quotations are round about (is lOd on trucks, and Australian quotations are 6s 3d, f.0.b., Australian ports. Dunedin millers prices ?u’c as follow:—-Iflour, £IB 10sJ oatmeal, £24; bran, £8 IDs; pollard, £0 10s. The potato market is firm. Old potatoes aro practically off the market, and wo depend on northern supplies of new potatoes, those arc selling round about 2d per lb, but-evory-thing‘points to the market firming, and there being a. shortage of locally-grown potatoes for the Christmas trade. There is also a. good inquiry lor sound old potatoes. The onion market is in over-supply, and prices aro coming back. Some first-class lines of Cana-dian-grown are offering, and also new season’s Australian-grown. Business in (he fruit marts has been fair during the week. A feature of the market is a full supply of Australian oranges and Canadian‘apples. A large quantity of Australian fruit coming to hand has arrived in very bad condition, the lemons in particular having to he destroyed. It is proving a serious loss to importers. Some first-class local apples are offering, but sales arc slow. Strawberries aro coming lonvard in larger quantities, and prices aro reasonablo. Tomatoes arc also increasing in quality, and prices arc firming, there being j a better demand these last two days. Cherries are also offering, but supplies are short, and prices aro low in com- ! parison with other years. Bananas aro | very short in supply, and everything , points to high prices ruling during the i Christmas holidays. The boat that con- | nee Is with the island shipments is not 1 suited for this market, and it has caused a shortage. Vegetables are in j short supply, and good prices are ruling, iho only exception being lottuco, which is in over-supply, and prices aro low. The egg market is firm. There is ; a steady demand for all offering, and prices have advanced to Is 10d_ dozen. Dairy pat bnttor is easing in price, and ] factory butter has come hack Id lb durj ing the week. The cheese market is linn. There is a good demand for fullymatured cheese. Hams and bacon are in good supply, and tho market is firm. Good honey is in short supply.
