MEAT WORK SALE
BORTHWICK AND SONS’ OFFER ONE-THIRD NOMINAL ASSETS [Pun United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, December 19. It is learned that the offer of Borthwick and Sons, Ltd., for the purchase of the Wellington Meat Export Company’s business, which was accepted by an extraordinary meeting of shareholders yesterday, was £900,000. The total assets, according to the latest balance-sheet, were set down at £080,583, including land, premises, and plant at Ngahauranga, Horikiwi, AJicetown, Waingaroa, Kakariki, Marton, and other freehold properties, £301,845; surdrv debtors, £42,480; consignments, £204,600; stocks, £74,628; appropriation account, £56,958. It was estimated by some of those at the meeting that if the sale were consummated the shareholders would receive about 8s in the £•
