BRITISH FIRM NEGOTIATING RAVEKSBOUBHE SITE FAVORED At the mocking of the Otago J.larbor Board hist night the Chairman (Mr J. Loudon) stated that the secretary and ho had been in close touch with tho representative of Messrs Had fields, Ltd., steel manufacturers, of Sheffield, England, who was negotiating with a view to the establishment of works in Dunedin. Mr London said it was a pretty well-established fact _ that the works would come to Dunedin. Three areas which might he used for the site of tho factory had been shown to Air Johnston, the representative of Hadfields, said Air Loudon. _ One area was four acres near Frederick street, and another was five acres near pie boat harbor, but tho area which impressed Air Johnston most favorably was at Ravcnsbonrne. It lent itself admirably towards the proposal. Die area comprised H acres. The representative indicated that tho. company might lake tho whole of the -sections and build workers’ residences. The question for i lie board was to decide the rental to quote to the company. It was also pointed out that the site would he conveniently situated for shipping, and that in time there might lie, a berthage not far away. A bridge would probably he built over the railway lino to take the scrap to the works. Tho hoard then considered the amount of rental to be charged.
