NEW FLYING MACHINE
SPANISH ENGINEER'S INVENTION NEW PRINCIPLE OF AERODYNAMICS. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, October 5. (Received October 6, at 9 a.m.) The ‘ Daily Mail ’ states that a Spanish engineer has invented a flying machine embodying a new principle of aerodynamics, combining the features of tho helicopter and the ornithopter machines, which will be demonstrated before tho Air Ministry’s experts. The most striking feature is a moveable column rising from the hull, which is equipped with four spinning vanes, which begin to rotate as tho machine taxies along the ground, and will lift the craft almost vertically, providing a parachnte-like sustaining power.—Sydney ‘ Sun ’ Cable.
[An ornithopter is a type of aircraft which is sustained and propelled by tho Happing movements of its wings. So far certain small models are the only successful representations of the typo.]
