BOXING ATTRACTIONS
TO-NIGHT'S* CONTESTS To-night, at His Majesty’s Theatre, the seating accommodation should bo taxed to its utmost capacity to witness tlie double professional boxing contests, the star attraction of which _ will be Mcrv Williams (of Australia) and Lachie Macdonald (New Zealand mid-dle-weight champion) for a purse of £l5O. Tho bout is scheduled for fifteen rounds. Mcrv Williams arrived from tho north on Saturday with Ins trainer (J. Donnelly) and bis sparring partner (Hector MacDonald). The principal bout will ho preceded by a ten-round bout between Tommy Harris and Jack Paul, both of Dunedin. The competitors are in the best of trim, and have been passed as medically fit by Dr Moody. Tho police permit has been issued. Mr J. Kilmartin will officiate as referee in the big contest, while Mr D. Patterson will referee tho preliminary bout, and Messrs Ruston. and Gawn will act as judges. Boxing patrons can he assured of a good evening’s entertainment. The proceedings will be enlivened by the Dixie Jazz Band. The box plan will be open until 5 p.m. at The Bristol, and early door sales for pit and stalls are at Jacobs’s, tobacconist.
