OTAGO ASSOCIATION. Tlio Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Association’s annual report, tor presentation at the meeting to bo hold on October 12, states;— Keen iutqrcst was shown by the clubs in the sport during the past season. In addition to the usual club fixtures regattas were held at Ravensbourne, .North-oast Harbor, Port Chalmers, and Broad Bay, and wore well patronised by the public. The various regatta committees worked in harmony with tho association, and it was satisfactory to note that no protests came before the association. The Ollpbant Cup was again sailed for under the jurisdiction of the I'ort Chalmers Club, lona again proving tho winner. The association again carried out a series of trial races for fourteen-footers for the purpose of selecting a representative to compete in tho Sanders Cup contest at Auckland. Bight trial races were held, and lona, which proved tho most consistent boat throughout, was eventually chosen, and under the skilful handling of Mr G. A. Wiseman and his crew was successful in bringing back the coveted trophy to Otago. In connection with the contest the association desired to extend its thanks to tho Auckland Yacht and Motor Boat Association and to tho various clubs and organisations lor the courtesy and assistance extended to the Otago crow and delegates while in Auckland. 'The thanks of tho association were also due to all those who assisted in defraying the cost of sending lona to Auckland, to the Press for prominence given to all matters in connection with tho association, and also to the Harbor Board for consideration extended to the association at all times. The association desired specially to thank Messrs P. Hunter, G. A. Wiseman, and tho crew of lona for their untiring efforts on Otago’s behalf. During the season a presentation was made to Earl Jellicoe on his final visit to Dunedin, when be expressed his pleasure at the opportunity afforded him of meeting Otago yachtsmen. The members of the association felt that they could not let tho occasion pass without expressing their thanks to tho retiring president (Mr W. R. Waters) for the untiring zeal and energy which he had displayed during his term of office. _ The association bad started the year with a credit balance of £95, and finished the season with a credit balance of £74.
