Viscount Torrington has been arrested at Yalding, in Kent, on a charge of offering a worthless cheque _ at a Nottingham bank. lie quarried a Gaiety actress, but was divorced in 1921.* His bankruptcy in 1919 included a debt of £IO,OOO to Ids first wife. Viscount Torrington was released on bail until October 10. As tho offence is a misdemeanor ho will bo treated as a commoner, trial by peers before the House of Lords being reserved for r. felony.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
