The above society’s twcnty-fourt h annual festival will commence at His Majesty’s Theatre on Tuesday morning next. The piano solo, 1 Valso llrilliant.’ will bo held in His Majesty’s Theatre at 10.30, and in the afternoon recitations will he held in the Victoria Mall, fancy dancing in His Majesty’s, and national dancing in the Burns Hall. In the evening the official opening will take place, and a very attractive programme has been _ arranged, opening with the combined ballets, and including the piano duet ‘ Nordescher, recitation ‘The Knight’s Toast,’ scan trinbhais, vocal solo (ladies, own selection), skipping-rope dance, piano solo ‘ Valso Brilliants,’ humorous recitation (gentlemen), and vocal duet (gentlemen) ‘Song of the Sword.’ It will thus be seen that a very interesting programme has been arranged for the opening night. Excellent entries have been received for this year’s festival. A pleasing feature is the excellent entry that has been received for the choir contests, geven choirs will he competing in the choir contests (three in the ladies’ choir and two in the male choir), while there will he two in the school choir contest. An excellent entry has been received for the combined ballet, and these have been divided into two comptitions, the first being held on the opening night of and the second on the final night of tie competitions, while there will be excellent competitions in every other section. Admission to the day sessions will be 6d, except on Saturday afternoons, when the admission to His Majeslys Theatre and Victoria Hall will bo: Adults Is, children 6d. Admission to the evening sessions will bo ; H.C. and O.S 3s, stalls 2s, and pit Is. The box plan is now open at The Bristol. The limited number of season -h'-hc-ts on sale mni he obtained on application to the secretary.
