LOTTA CRABTREE'S MILLIONS
“POCK-MARKED WITH FRAUD H BOGUS HEIRS ARRESTED. BOSTON, July 31. When Lotta. Crabtree, the famous old-time actress, died she left most of her 3,000,000d0l to charity. A great race then started among distant relatives to upset the will. John Crabtree, of Crabtree Ford, Illinois, quickly discovered his relationship, and assisted Airs Blankenburg, his sister, in presenting her claim that she was Lotta Crabtree’s illegitimate child. After a long hearing the case took a sensational turn to-day, when Judge Prest declared: “The whole case is pock-marked with fraud." He ordered the arrest of_ claimants on charges of perjury, having decided that Lotta never had a child. The claim attracted great attention, reminding jurists of the famous Tichborue case.
