If, however, the district councils preferred the Palmerston-Middle-march road as a main highway, the board was prepared to consider the revoking of the Mosgiel-Middlemarch highway.—The Taieri County Council forwarded a letter supporting the application for the declaration of the road as a main highway in respect to the portion through the Taim County.— Consideration was deferred till the Waikouaiti, Waihemo, and Taieri County Councils were consulted.
The Main Highways Board wrote requesting an amended resolution from the Waikouaiti County Council to the effect that the county should spend on the section of road beyond Waitati an amount equivalent to that which had previously been spent between Dunedin _and Waitati, as well as the amount previously spent between Waitati and Palmerston.—The County Council wrote forwarding a copy of an amended resolution as requested.—Received.
