(Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.) DI AMONDS AND OTHER STONES. David Baden Powell, a well-dressed young man, who was arrested yesterday hy Detective Beer and Detective Roycroft, and in whose possession was found a number of precious stones (mostly diamonds, with some rubies and other stones), was charged with, on July 26, breaking and entering by day the dwelling of Richard Henry Knowles Kempton, and stealing a gold diamond ring, a gold wedding ring, and £4 14s in money, of a total value of £ll 9s. ' . Chief-detective Lewis asked for a remand till Monday. He said that the property found on accused would involve proceedings in the other three centres, finally at Auckland. A remand was granted.
