The (lonova correspondent of the ' Daily Express ’ says that great crevasses are appearing on the Italian side of the Matterhorn, and boulders arc tumbling down threatening to engult tho villages and hamlets. The danger bad been increasing for a month until tho authorities ordered a dozen ol the villages to be evacuated. Troops were sent to force the villagers to leave, as they declared that they preferred to dio in their homes. Recent heavy rains are the cause of the landslides.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
