MOVE FOR UNITY. FACING THE COLOR PROBLEM. LONDON, July S. Commenting on the Labor Conference at Westminster Hall on July 27, Dr Hatlen Guest (Labor member for Southwark) said its object was to link up the Labor parties of Empire with Labor throughout tho world. The main difficulty in world economic organisation was the conflicting standards of white and colored labor. Though a White Australia was possible," a White Empire was impossible without disintegration. 'Hie solution would, however, bo sought, Australians comparing notes with South African delegates, since there must be a policy for the British Commonwealth as a whole. Dr Guest considered there would soon be a Federal Labor Government in Australia, and Labor would bo in office in Britain a, few years hence, though Labor world dominion was difficult of achievement. Labor, ho said, had been preparing for years. Dominion Labor had been failed into .the conference for consideration of its Imperial responsibilities. x The Liverpool Labor Conference in September will ask the Government to submit; to an early Imperial conference proposals for closer personal contact between the Empire Governments, and -will consider the questions of land settlement, migration, and food resources.
