LONDON, July 23. A dramatic confession by the respondent and a renewed application for the hearing io be taken in camera were features to-day of the proceedings in the Raper divorce case. The respondent gave evidence that she adored Raper when she married him. and in order that the marriage might bo happy and that nothing might be thrown up at her afterwards she confessed to Raper that she had been intimate with two men apart from her first husband. One of these meti, who held a very high political position, bad since died, and the other was killed in the war.

Struggling with emotion and distress, the respondent continued: “I wanted to bo absolutely fair to Raper before marriage, and I never realised that such a thing would be thrown up again against me. Unfortunately I told Raper the men’s names.”—A. and N.Z. Cable.
