BOWLING
GREEN ISLAND CLUB. At the annual meeting of tho Green Island Club tho president (Mr \V. A. Brown) presided. Tho Secretary (Mr "W. T. Smellie) road the annual report, which showed the club to be in a satisfactory position. Tho balance-sheet was read by the treasurer (Dir P. Thomson). Tho lawn tennis section showed considerable improvement financially. On the motion of the president, tho report and balance-sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Dir J. L. Miller; vice-presidents, Mr Hilgendorf and Mr A. Smellie; treasurer, M r P. M. Thompson (re-elected); secretary, Mr W. T. Smellie (re-elected); assistant secretary, Mr Hilgendorf; Management Committee—Messrs Mnrio, J. C. Lindsay, and J. M‘Mill lan; selector, Dir Archie Smellie; green _ supervisor, Dir A. Harraway; Competitions Committee —Messrs j. DPLean, Hilgendorf, and DPDlullan; Billiards Committee, DJcssrs W. Mnrio and W. Brown; delegates to Bowling Centre, Messrs Miller aid A. Smellie; auditor, Dir T. Tomkins, sen. (re-elected). Delegates were instructed to vote for as many matches being arranged for Saturdays as possible, and for the fourrink games to bo played in the evenings. Five ordinary and three honorary members were elected.
It was agreed that a letter of appreciation be sent to tlio greonkeepor (Dir Duncan). - 1 A motion to form- a ladies’ howling section was, on the motion of Dir IT iI - gomlorf, seconded by Mr A. Smellie pro forma, discussed, and it was agreed that the Management Committee consider tho advisability of forming a ladies’ section.
The giving of byes in compotitons was discussed, and it was decided, that the question be referred to the committee for further consideration.On vacating the chair, tho President referred to the excellent position the ! club was in at present, and .expressed | tho hope that under the guidance of the
new president aud officers it. would coni tiuue to flourish. NORTH-EAST VALLEY 'CLUB. Tlie annual meeting Of the Northeast Valley Bowling Club was held last night. Mr W. S. Culbert- (president) occupied the chair. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the annual report and balancesheet, congratulated the members on the club’s position, which, ho stated, was better than last year. Thanks to the generosity of Mr Jonathan Rhodes, the club had secured the freehold of the property. The motion was carried. The election of officers resulted as follows ;—President, Mr J. On the motion of Dir J. Rhodes, the 1 subscriptions for the coming season were fixed as follows: —Full member £3, honorary member £2, new member £2.
It was decided to play nine rinks in tho club competition, and that the club, should not enter in tho four-rink championship. ’Three new members wore elected.
The delegates to the centre were instructed to vote iu favor of playing matches during the coming season if they could conveniently ho arranged. The delegates were also instructed to support a proposal to have tho Centre Executive composed of one member from each club. Dir Rhodes referred to ihe departure from Dunedin of Dliss Jean DPLaron, a member of tho North-east Valley'Hawn Tennis Club, who, he stated, was known throughout Now Zealand. Dliss DPLnron had been presented with a gold medal by the members of the club.
'Prizes were presented as follow: Champion singles—J. Tonkin 1, T. Sneoston 2. Champion pairs—D. Sherrills and W. S. Onlbert. Colts’ singles, R. Williams. Handicap singles, W. Drvdcn.
