FIRE IN TECHNICAL SCHOOL
WOODWORK DEPARTMENT DESTROYED [Per Umtkd Pucks Association.] TIMARU. July 24, Shortly after 4 o’clock this morning the fire brigade received a call to the Technical School, where it was found that the woodwork department, owned by the Education Board, and in which was much valuable machinery and timber, was in flames. The Tire bad a strong hold, and, as it was impossible to save the building, the brigade concentrated its efforts in preventing the flames from spreading to the adjoining premises situated close by. In this it was completely successful. The outbreak resulted in the total destruction of the building where it originated. The loss will be severe, and will interrupt the activities _of the school in that department. It is understood that there were no insurances.
