OCTAGOH A Paramount picture entitled ' Tomorrow’s Love ’ is tho current attraction at the Octagon Theatre. Agnes Ayres has the leading role, and supporting her are Pat O’Ala Hoy, Raymond Hatton, and Jane AVinton. Robert and Judith (the story runs) have been happily married for a year when Judith begins to suspect that her husband is not true to her. This she finds is correct, as he has made the acquaintance of liens Carlyle, with whom he js spending a large proportion _of his leisure. Judith makes up her mind to procure a, divorce, and in the meanwhile obtains an interlocutory decree. In order to secure the actual divorce she must reside apart from her husband for a year, and therefore she leaves tho country. She realises, however, during the course of her peregrinations that she loves Robert. Aleanwhile Robert has become engaged to Bobs, and Judith returns home on the last night of tho decree, and by a clever ruse prevents the marriage, which is to take place at midnight. Both Robert and Judith realise _ their mistake, and a. happy reconciliation is made. Tho Octagon Concert Orchestra plays a number of enjoyable items. EMPIRE ‘ Enticement ’ is tho main feature at tho Empire Theatre. The part of Loonore, the heroine, is portrayed by Mary Astor, who invests it with startling fidelity, and apepal. A'al, Lqonoro's friend ol many years’ standing, shows Jan Jfeith in a new and attractive light, while Clive Brook, always to be depended upon for a sincere and forceful characterisation, is admirably suited to the role of Harry AVallifi, an English gentleman afflicted with a crowd of prejudiced and highly conservative relatives, who arc dismayed by his young vpfo’s_modern and, to them, frivolous outlook on life. An attractive musical programme is rendered by the Empire Orchestra. QUEEN’S ‘ Squib’s Honeymoon,’ Betty Balfour’s latest picture, is tho big attraction at the (Jueeu’s Theatre. Also showing is ‘ Tho Star Dust Trail.’ Sylvia Joy, first a cabaret dancer, and later a musical comcdy_ star, is married to John Warding, on actor in a papular Broadway play. Her producer, William Benton, has designs on his protege. To complicate matters, young Warding loses his position, and develops au inferiority complex because ho is forced to' allow his wife to pay the family bills. As a result, he goes away, and "oylv'ia’k loyalty is put to a severe test before the clouds finally lift and the married lovers are reunited. EVERYBODY'S AND KING EDWARD ‘The Alad Whir!,’ which _ features May APAvoy, is the main picture at the King Edward and Everybody’s Theatres. The supporting item at Everybody’s is ‘The Snowshoe Trail,’ Jane Novak is the star. ‘The Snowshoe Trail : is a story of the Northland, in which tho famous young star is .supported by a well-chosen cast, hen den by Roy Stewart. The story, based on a novel by Edison Aiarshall. has to do with the experiences of a beautiful society girl who goes adventuring amid lire snows. PLAZA AND GRAND A Universal-Jewel production. ‘The Law Forbids,’ is the principal picture at tfie Plaza and Grand Theatres. Baliv Peggy enacts tho title role. Alildrecl Harris and Cullen Landis are featured in the companion picture, ‘The Fog.’ An excellent supporting programme is also screened.
