Correspondence from the Red Cross Society and R.S.A. I was received, no action being required, j There are now eight active branches of the union in New Zealand. Those | mot in conference lately, and decided | that a dominion union should be in- | augurated. A constitution was drafted ! and sent down to tho branches for ratification. This constitution was ratified by the Dunedin branch, with a few amendments, the secretary being instructed to forward this to the dominion honorary secretary. The headquarters of the Dominion Union being in Dunedin this year, it falls to the local council to organise it and to secure the office-bearers. For this purpose a sub-committeo was set up. This committee submitted a report, which was approved by the couni cil.

In response to a request from the London Union and from the Federation of the League of Nations Societies, the secretary had forwarded a full report of the work and progress in New Zealand. The Auckland branch being concerned for the safety in China of missionaries and foreigners generally, asked for the co-operation of Dunedin in securing that matters in dispute in China he referred to the League of Nations. This resolution was ably debated by members, the general opinion being that too little was known here as to the causes of the rioting. Much was due to industrial unrest. Also that direct action of the authorities on the spot would be more efficacious in saving life than protracted negotiations between Chinn and tho League. The following was passed, and will be sent to the Dominion Executive:— '"That the New Zealand Government be asked to represent to the British Government that if events in China should threaten the existence of peaceful relations between China and other Powers, the whole matter should bo placed before the League of Nations.”
