THE BIG EXHIBITION
MR HAINSWORTH'S tour EKGOURAGIHG RESULTS Mr 0. P. Hainswortb (manager) ami Mr W. R. Hayward (director), of the Exhibition Company, returned to Dunedin on Friday night' after a tour of the throe centres in connection with the formation of provincial courts. Mr Hainswortb cxprcssetl pleasure at the result of tho visit, and said ho was very much impressed with the reception which was accorded himself and Mr Hayward and the Exhibition generally by the people they met in Christchurch, "Wellington, and Auckland. The idea of provincialism that had been abroad regarding the Exhibition 'was, ho was glad to say, being quickly dispelled, if it had not completely vanished. There had been representative meetings in Wellington and Auckland, both of the provincial court committees .and of the manufacturers. Auckland had decided to take tire whole 5,000 square feet with the option of increasing that space if required at a later date, and it was fully expected that it would be necessary to do so. The delegates attending the meeting from North Auckland were particularly enthusiastic, and a thoroughly representative court from the northern province is now ensured. As far as Wellington is concerned, the meeting there decided to take steps with a view to appointing an Ta’gnniser to advance the idea, of a, Wellington provincial court. Canterbury had previously decided upon a. court, and the meeting there was principally to ascertain what progress had been made. It was found that everything w*s a dvancing satisfactorily. Regarding the question of manufacturers’ exhibits, Mi 1 Hainswortb interviewed several of the leading firms in Auckland with the idea of urging them to take stands in the commercial section outside the provincial court, and his efforts met with encouraging results. Air HaTnsworth also took with him a series of photographs of the Exhibition, and- with the aid of these he was able to more graphically .describe its size and scope and progress.
