LONDON, April 25. (Received April 27, at 1.10 a.m.) Replying to the Engineering Trade Union’s demand for an increase of 20s a week, the employers submitted proposals to Urn forty trade unions concerned suggest ing increased hours in an attempt to reduce tho cost of production and.to counter foreign competition. At present the men work forty-seven hours weekly at the rate of Is an hour plus a bonus of 10s weekly. The employers propose fifty hours at Is with a bonus of 12s. Ihe subcommittee of the trade onions is amazed at the proposal, which is being submitted to a full executive meeting. This was adjourned till -day 20.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
