NOT AN OFFICIAL VISIT Press Association--By Telegraph—Copyright. PAULS, April 24. Their Alajestics King George and Queen Alary are staying at Paris incognito at their own request. Consequently no representative of the French Government was present at (lie station when they arrived. A crowd, which was mostly British, cheered their Alajesties upon arrival at the British Embassy, whence they drove to the Elysce. King George, who is in excellent health, laid a wreath on the tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Arc do Triompho. In the afternoon their Alajesties lunched with President Doumergue at the Palais de L’Elysee. Lord and Lady Crowe, Al. Horriot and his wife, AL Painlcve, Al. Briand, AI. Poincare and his wife, Marshal Joflre and his wife, Alarshal Foch, General Franchet D’Esperey, Al. Jules Gambon, and At. Marcel Prevost were present at the luncheon.—Reuter. HONOR FOR M. PAINLEVE. Their Alajesties arrived at Victoria station bronzed and cheerful They wer welcomed by the Duke and Duchess of York, Princes Henry and George, Princess Mary and Viscount Lascclles, and Prince Arthur of Connaught, after which they drove to the Palace in an open carriage by a short route, which was lined for tho entire length by multitudes cheering enthusiastically.—Reuter. A dense and enthusiastic crowd heartily cheered King George at the Arc do TTiomphe, and the military band played the National Anthem as the King deposited a wreath on the tomb of the Unknown Warrior. The King then stood in silence for a minute, while the band played the ‘ Alarseillaise.’ The King, the ceremony, cordially shook hands with Alarshall Foch and General Gournud, and then drove off amid renewed cheering.—A. and N.Z.
