In the ladies’ championship final (second draw) Mrs E. A. Smith (United Club) beat Mrs Maddrcn, 26-25. CHAMPIONSHIP REGATTA. [Per United Pit ess Association.] HAMILTON, January 29. The New Zealand Amateur Championship Regatta opened to-day. The weather was line, attendance small. Results : Maiden Fours (KM and under).—Waitemata 1, Union (Wanganui) 2, Mercer 3. Won hy six lengths. Time, 9min SOsec. (Maiden Fours (open). —Waitemata 1, Mercer 2, Hamilton 3. Won by one and a-half lengths. Championship Single,—l. W. St. Clair (Hamilton) 1, W. Steven-on (Waitemata) 2, G. Brijjht (Wellington) 5. Three-quar-ters of a length. It was a gruelling race over the last, half-mile. Molesworth (Hamilton) and F. O.
