WHEAT AND FREIGHTS,
SYDNEY, January 29
(Received January 29, at 10.45 a.m.)
Shippers of wheat are finding that the rise in price is being count rebalanced to a certain extent by the recent rapid advance in sea freights. At the end of December charters to load wheat nt Australian ports were arranger] at the rate of 48s per ton. On Tuesday last charters for March loading were fixed nt 55s 9d and 55s per ton. With the rates ruling, it is a subject of much comment in wheat circles that the vessels lying idle in Australian ports are not being commissioned.
