SPAIN AND MOROCCO
NEGOTIATIONS SUSPENDED.
REBEL LEADER’S INSOLENCE
Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright
MADRID, January 23, (Received January 29, at 9 a.m.)
The fact that pourparlers have been opened with Abd-el-Krim regarding Morocco has been revealed by an official communique, which states, however, that negotiations have been suspended owing to Abd-el-Ivrim’s insolence and overhearing demands. He is assuming the air of a conqueror, and demanding the surrender of arms and ammunition, whereas the Directory will not negotiate with any rebel chief except on condition that the latter lays down his arms.—Reuter.
