NORTH-EAST HARBOR NOTES
SWIMMING CLUB CARNIVAL. [From Our Correspondent.] The annual carnival under the auspices of the Swimming Club was held at the club’s bathing shed on Saturday afternoon last. Tho weather conditions were all that could be desired, and there was a largo crowd of interested spectators present. There were large entries for the various events, and some keen contests worn witnessed, added interest _ being given by tho presence of several swimmers from Dunedin, The officials in charge of the carnival were ;—Referee, Mr R. Luke (president); superintendent, Air S. Ingram ; hnndicappers, Messrs S. Drown and .1. Niven; judges, Messrs S'. ID Benton and AY. Churchill; while Mr J. L. Gregory, as secretary, carried out the duties satisfactorily. The club was enabled to give liberal prizes through the generosity of tlm following donors -Mesdames Black, Scott, .Messrs Bouton, Bret tell, Briekell, S, Brown, Dickinson, Gregory, Keenan, Binkley, Book, Howie, Ingram, Johnston, Kellett. King, Luke. M'Donala, MLnughinn, MBTutdion, Mnrett, Moller, Malcolm and Bayne, J. M. Niven, J. Niven, Potter, Pidriell, Rowlands, Hafirs, Smith, Company’s Bay Swimming Club. A concert- was held in the hall in (he evening, when there was a large audience present, the hall being filled. An excellent programme was provided, at tne conclusion of which an enjoyable dance was held. During the entertainment the prizes won durum the afternoon were presented by Messrs'Luke (president) and Ingram (vice-president). The iollowing contributed' items to the programme ; —Air Cooper (song), Air Tait (cornet solo), Mr Hendry (song). Miss Campbell (recitation). Mr Sumner (song), Air Af’Neill (sough Master Foster (recitation), Mr Holf?away (sough Air Clark (violin solo), Air Cooper (sons). Aliss Jefferson (recitation), Air Sumner (song).
