PRINCESS THEATRE

Jim Gerald should enhance his reputation as a comedian with his dame characterisation in ‘Uli, Mum,’ the new revue at ilie Princess Theatre. As the rolliclung Mrs Muggins Gerald has an cxtraordiuaiily diverting role, and he makes tho most of the opportunities that offer. There are some screamingly ludicrous scenes, particularly in the encounters with the various iholl foil: that (lit in and out of the picture. A feature of this production is the colorful ballet programme, the charming Twiulcicrs adding a touch of beauty to the j proceedings. The singing, too, is up to 1 llie standard set in previous pieces. ! In the vaudeville section the stars are Miss Alice Hollander (contralto) and Air Arthur Sandfonl (pianist). Both of them .are extremely accomplished, and their “classy” turn is received with wellmerited enthusiasm. Niblo and Doris present a novel turn consisting mostly of cyclonic whirlings, whilst Will and Linda Newman are responsible for some clever feats on single-wheel cycles. Pic and Alf 1 open the programme with their remarkable contortions and acrobatics.
