The stock which remained undisposed of after the fast safe of work in aid of St. Martin’s Sunday School, North-east Valley. was offered for sale in the Millar Street Hall this afternoon. There was a good assortment of saleable things moderately priced, and a special feature was the Christmas tree, with its gay decorations and a largo number of Yuletide gifts for the children. Satisfactory business was transacted. A Christchurch Press Association telegram states that Thomas Tansey, licensee of the Excelsior Hotel, was fined £lO on each of three charges of selling liquor after hours, the police slating that the hotel had a reputation for this sort of thing.
