ACCIDEHTS AND DEATHS
FOUND DROWNED. An Association message from Auckland states that the inquest on the body of i Joseph Alexander Duncan, who was found j drowned at Devonport on November 2, was concluded. Throughout the inquest, which was twice adjourned, there seemed ! to bo suspicions of foul play, as deceased was in possession of a considerable j sum of money prior to bis death. Ibis idea was not supported by tho evidence, and there being no marks of violence on the body, the coroner returned a verdict of “hound drowned.” FALL FROM HORSE. Our Clyde correspondent telegraphs: Chas. Docherty, who was injured by a ; fall from his horse at the Omakau Show, is suffering from a fracture of the base of the skull and ai broken jaw. The latest reports show that ho is slightly improved. FALL OVER CLIFF. A Wellington Association message states that a Customs agent named F. 1 B. Boyd fell over a cliff on the Gollan’s : Valley road this morning, and was found dead by the driver of a milk float. Dc- ; ceased had been in the habit of wandering | about the hills with a dog and gun. MOTOR CYCLE SMASH. A Danncvirke message reads : —While motor cycling to Woodvnlo yesterday from Kiritaki, Ray Walker and Winnie ColdI stream met with a serious accident. The ' cycle capsized rounding a bend, and Miss i Coldstream, who was riding pillion, got 1 her right foot caught in tho chain, the limb being almost torn away It had to j bo amputated subsequently in Donnevirko ■ Hospital Walker sustained injuries to the knes.
