Mr Baldwin has renewed tho promise given in 1923 to contribute £1,000.000 to the maintenance of the Ulster special police. Mr Ramsay MacDonald refused this grant on the ground that the special police were a political force. At New York a loan of 100,000,000 dollars, raised for the Government of France, was over-subscribed within ono hour. The ■ loan was offered at 94, and it yielded in 1 interest a rate of 7i per cent.
