It is understood, according to information from a well-informed but unofficial source, that steps are. likely to be taken soon to push on with the plan for the construction of the Singapore base. Probably the Estimates for 1925-27 will nrovide the current expenditure.— Reuter. DEFENCE COMMITTEE’S DECISION. LONDON. December 5. The Imperial Defence Committee discussed the Singapore ease question yesterday, and it is understood that it has recommended that the work be resumed. It is expected that Cabinet’s acquiescence will be indicated in the King’s Speech in Parliament on Tuesday. Meantime the dominions will probably be consulted further. More than £120,000 of the preliminary vote is at present unexpended.—A. and N.Z. Cable,
