A Yorkshire cricket authority recalls an incident in which a Yorkshire umpire gave out a left-handed batsman for obstruction and unfair play in playing an off ball by turning round and hitting it right-handed. He states that J. T. Brown, an old test player in a match between Yorkshire and Notts in 1906, attempted: to hit one of Gunn’s lobs with a backhand stroke. The scoring book records that Brown was bowled by Gunn, with the added comment that Brown lost In's wicket foolishly by hitting hack-handed at a lob.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
