WOOL PRICES SOAR

AUCKLAND SALE CONCLUDED. [Pee United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, December 5._ The Auckland wool sale resumed this morning and concluded to-uight. The bidding continued brisk, and yesterday’s prices weio repeated. It. was evident from the nature of the bidding that a great, many of the prices paid wont considerably beyond the limits of a number of buyers, and Bradford continued to get a lion’s share of the offerings. Nearly all the catalogue was sold, the only lots passed being where sellers had placed what buyers considered too high reserves on their lots. When this was tlio case buyers would have none of thorn. The attendance of the public was again large. Remarkable evenness of bidding was evidenced throughout the sale. As an instance a consecutive rua of twenty lots of crossbred ranged from 23d to 26J.d. In another similar page of the catalogue tlio range was from 21d to 25]d. Occasionally the bidding took a sharp upward turn, as a choice lot of fine cross-bred super, or Corricdalo was offered, the prices for these frequently topping the 30d mark. The aim of the optimistic grower to realise 24d per lb for cross-brcds was realised.

The average prices throughout the sale were maintained remarkably well. Experts estimate average price per lb to be from 23[d to 24£d, making the average price per bale about £35, which was the figure set on the opening night of (ho sale. Finer wools realised approximta.ely the same as those offered at the southern sales. Coarser wools showed an advance of about Ad per lb. The top prices to-day were 36]d for six bales of half-bred and 36Jd for two bales of super, half-bred. The range of prices compared with those of February last, was as follows: t
