CROWN SOLICITOR VINDICATED
MR HOLLAND’S CHARGES DISPROVED. [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, December 5. The Attorney-General has investigated the charges made in the House by Mr Holland against Mr Wilson, Grown tov at Westport, and finds that not only are they not substantiated, but have been disproved. ~ Tho charges against Mr Wilson were four in number: (.1) 'J'hat as •'trustee in the estate ol Barnard Menghini he abused his position by lending trust money to himself, and in ether ways. This statement is condemned as incorrect in almost every particular. Mr Wilson was never trustee, and though he owed Menghini money, the amount was reduced and finally paid oh. (2) That one Seaton was charged for work never done. Tho Attorney-General can find no evidence of misconduct. (3) That Air Wilson charged £7l costs in prosecuting a claim for compensation for £lO5. The answer to this is that the £7l included costs in four other cases on behalf 0) tho same client, and the total charge was reduced to £4B 11s 9d. The AttorneyGeneral finds this charge fair. (4) A charge of misconduct in administering tho an airs of one Abbott. Tim Public trustee took over Abbott’s affairs, and 4 made an inquiry, resulting in his reporting that there was nothing amiss in Mr Wilson’s dealings. All moneys were accounted for, and Abbott seemed to have done very well out of it. There was also a charge that Wilson allowed Abbott to be sentenced to imprisonment for having no visible means of support when he had large funds of Abbott's in his hands. The Public Trustee says that Wilson had no moneys, was not Abbott's counsel, and that Abbott pleaded guilty for reasons of his own, connected with another charge against him.
