The brethren of Lodge Otago, Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes, met in large numbers at their lodge room, Smith’s Hall, Hanover street, for tho consecration of the new chain regalia. The Provincial Grand Lodge of Otago and Southland was in full attendance, weaving their new chain regalia for tho first time. Primo Lethaby, C.P., and his officers formally received them and handed over the lodge to the Prov. Grand Primo, J. Cunningham, and his Deputy Grand S. 0. P. Haigh. “Sir James’’ R- H. Carpenter, K.0.M., G.A., was then received with full Buffalo honors and asked to perform tho ceremony, which proved very impressivo, after which Primo J. ner, Prov. Grand Director oi Ceremonies, introduced the various officers, who received their collars from James. The regalia is of a handsome design. Sixteen new candidates were proposed during the evening, being the record number per month since the lodge was formed. The average for tho quarter ended Juno was eight°a month. July and August showed an average per month of ten. Visitors were present from England and Australia, also members from Royal Athenio Lodge, Port Chalmers. An excellent programme of vocal and instrumental items was rendered during the evening by the Buffalo Orchestra and members of the order. On Thursday evening the Prov. Grand Lodge, also officers of Lodge Otago, journeyed to Poft Chalmers fur tho'consecration and presentation of new chain regalia to Royal Atbenic Lodge, N.Z.
