PRISONERS SENTENCED

AUCKLAND, September 3. In the Supreme Court Mr Justice Herdman sentenced Cecil Gilbert John Thompson and Sydney James Foley, the former for theft and the latter for rece’vmg .o-oods valued at £2OO stolen from the warehouse of Macky, Logan, Caldwell, and Co. The former was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment and the latter to two* years and three months imprisonment. Harold Nesbitt Thorpe, for unnatural offences of a revolting character was sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment His Honor remarking that in future cases’he would consider whether offenders should be whipped. Charles Augustus Scandle, for breaking and entering with intent, was sentenced to three years, concurrent with his present sentence of reformative detention. George Miller, for forgery and uttering, received twelve months” reformative treatment.
