THIS DAY. Sheep.—A good yarding of fat sheep totalling 2,182. The bulk of the yarding was comprised of good to prime heavy wethers, tho balance being made up of light and medium wethers, with a sprinkling of ewes, which were not so numerous as of late. Owir.g to the presence of a number of country butchers, there was good competition, specially for ewes and medium-weight wethers. Prices for extra heavy wethers w«o, if anything, a shade easier, while medium-weight wethers and all ewes were very firm, up to Is advance right tlirough tho sale. The extra prime heavy-weight wethers realised up to 645, and prime heavy-weight from 60s to 555, Medium wethers brought from 43s 6d to 47s 9d, and light from 57s to 41s. Extra prime ewes realised up to 48s, good ewes from 35s to 3Ss, and light from 23s to 28s. Fat Cattle.—A good average yarding of 221 head. There were very few bullocks of extra weight forward, the bulk of the yarding consisting of well-finished bullocks of average weight. There were a number of extra prime heavy-weight cows and heifers forward. Country butchers, in conjunction with tho town trade, _ were keen competitors, and prices at the time of going to press for light weights were from 10s to 20s per head in advance of last week’s rates. Extra prime bullocks realised up to £22 2s 6d; prime from £l6 10s to £lB 17s 6d j medium from £l3 15s to £ls 15s; and light up to £l2 17s 6d. Prime cows and heifers brought from £l2 to £l4 10s; medium from £9 to £lO 16s; and old and inferior from £6 to £B. Thera wo 131 pins yarded.
