LATE SPORTING

Press Association—By Telegraph— Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. CRICKET. M.C.O. TEAM AFTER THE ASHES. SYDNEY, September 5. (Received September 3, at 8.55 a.m.) Mr Sydney Smith, secretary of the Cricket Board of Control, commenting on England bringing out seventeen players, points out that the agreement made in 1920 between the Board of Control and the Marylebone Club provides that teams touring England and Australia shall comprise only fifteen players and a manager. He said that the whole tour had been worked out' on this basis, and if the tour resulted in a loss the Marylebone Club would have to make up the cost of bringing the two extra men. _ Mr Smith regards their inclusion as a sign of England’s keenness to regain the ashes.
