SOUTH DUNEDIN LICENSING
QUARTERLY MEETING. The quarterly meeting of members of the South Dunedin Licensing Committee was held to-day in the district Town Hail. Those present were Mr J. R. Bartholomew (chairman), Messrs J. J. Marlow, R. Conn, and T. Leyland. DRINKING BY WOMEN.
The Chairman stated that the committee had received a report from the police on the question of drinking by women. Tiie report was satisfactory, except for one feature. It stated that in one hotel the;" was a sitting room in a quiet spot at the back of the building which was patronised by young men and young women. The committee considered that no facilities of that nature should be provided for womenfolk, and hoped that licensees would see that there were none. The committee strongly objected to the existence of such resorts, and was of opinion that licensees would be well advised to discourage women from visiting hotels for the purpose of drinking. TRANSFER. An application for the transfer of a license from John Monaghan to John Alexander Greer was granted.
