The Gale is duo on Friday to load for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. The Treraeadow was to sail at 5 p.m. to-day for Newcastle direct. The Wingatui was to leave Auckland to-day for Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. . The Calm is expected to sail to-night for Wanganui via ports. The Flora loft Gisborne last night, and is due hero on Friday, sailing the same day for Napier and Gisborne via ports. I’he Tredinnick left Newcastle yesterday with ooal for Port Chalmers. The Navua left Lyttelton early this morning, and is expected here to-morrow morning. She is to sail on Friday for Wellington direct, thence Picton and Auckland. The Waimarino left Port Chalmers this afternoon' for Newcastle direct. The Kaiwarra is due to-morrow afternoon from Melbourne, and sails on Saturday for Timaru. The Whangape sails on Friday for Oamaru, Bluff, and Sydney. The Rio Claim was expected to sail late this afternoon for Bluff to complete discharge of her New York cargo. THE TAINUI. With passengers and cargo for New Zealand, the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Tainui is to leave Southampton on September 25 for Auckland and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland about November 3. CARGO FROM PACIFIC COAST. The Swayne and Hoyte Line steamer West Cahokia is expected at Auckland from Pacific Coast ports about September 10. The cargo for that port consists of 35,000 cases of oil, 1,200 tons of oats, and general cargo, and 200,000 ft of timber. The remainder of the cargo is for Wellington, Dunedin, and Bluff. The West Cahokia is to he followed by the West Islip, which is scheduled to leave San Francisco on September 13 with cargo from Pacific Coast ports for discharge at Auckland, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Melbourne, and Sydney.

TANGAROA RENAMED PIRI. The schooner Tangaroa, which was_ recently purchased by the Nobel Explosives Company from the Pacific Cable Board, has been renamed the Piri. On Monday the schooner was utilised to lighter explosives at Motuihi from the Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Mamari at Auckland. She will return to the western wharf to continue refitting for the intercolonial and coastal trade. • It is expected that she will now be ready for sea about the middle of October. TRANSPACIFIC SERVICE. The Union Company reports the following movements of vessels engaged in their transpacific cargo service : The Hauraki was expected to leave Wallaroo yesterday for Lyttelton and Auckland. After completing discharge at Auckland she will proceed to Fanning Island, thence Vancouver, and San Francisco to load late in October and early in November, for Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne. Adelaide, Sydney, and possibly Brisbane.

The Waiotapu, from Auckland, is due at Vancouver about Wednesday, September 17. and will proceed to San Francisco to complete loading for Auckland, Melbourne, and Sydney. The Wairuna. from Vancouver, Union Bay, and Powell River, was expected to leave San Francisco on Saturday for Auckland, Wellington, Sydney, and (Melbourne. The Waikawa, from Newcastle, reached Fiji on Friday, and after loading a cargo of sugar will proceed to Vancouver and thence to San Francisco to load during the latter part of September and early in October for Napier, New Plymouth, Lyttelton. and Dunedin.

The Trelyon, from Vancouver, Union Bar. and San Francisco, was to leave Auckland to-day for Melbourne, Sydney, and Newcastle. She will return to the Pacific Coast during (he latter part of Senfemher to load at Vancouver and San Francisco early in November for New Zealand and Australia. CANADIAN GOVERNMENT LINE. The Canadian Britisher sailed from Montreal on August 1, from Sydney (Nova. Scotia) on August 5. and from Colon on August 16. She is due at Auckland on September 10. The Canadian Challenger was scheduled to sail from Montreal on August 30. She is due at Auckland about October 12. The Canadian Traveller will sail from Montreal about September 30, and should reach Auckland .ou November 11. The Canadian Cruiser, which will leave Montreal on October 51, is due at A.ucklaud on December 10, THE WESTMORELAND. The Westmore l aud is to sail from New Plymouth on Thursday for Australian ports, where she will load for the United Kingdom. TUTANEKAI’S NORTHERN TRIP. The Government steamer Tutanekai was expected to leave Wellington to-day on her periodical visit to northern lighthouses. Before proceeding north the vessel will complete work at Cape Palliser anl Pencarrow lights. ROTORUA REPORTED. Cable advice has been received by the Now Zealand Shipping Company stating that the Rotorua, which left Southampton on August 14 for Wellington and Port Chalmers, arrived at Colon on August 27. The vessel is due at Wellington on September 18. PERSONAL. Captain S. A. Chatfield, late of the Opihi, lias been appointed to the Waipori. and Captain A. E. Chrisp, of that vessel, has been granted holiday leave. Captain W. H. D. Gardiner has been appointed acting master of the Opihi. Captain A. H. Dryden has been appointed master of theTofua, and Captain J. Mawson awaits instructions. Mr C. Richardson has joined the Opihi as chief engineer, in place of Mr J. Ja. Hamer, who has come ashore.

THE FERRY SERVICE.

The Mararoa, from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton at 9 a.m. to-day, and passengers and mails connected with the south express. S.S. AND A. LINE. The National Mortgage and Agency Company advises the following movements of the Shaw, Savill and Albion vessels The Arawa leaves Southampton to-mor-row for Wellington and Dunedin. Due at Wellington October 12. ' The Knramea is due at Melbourne on September 13, and is expected to proceed to New Zealand for Homeward loading middle of October. The Mahana leaves London on Sept cm !ber 6 for Auckland. Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. Due at Auckland on Octobei 13. The Maimoa, from Liverpool via New Zealand ports, is due here on September 12, and sails on September 16 for Napier, Gisborne, Wellington, and Auckland, leav* ing the latter gart finally cn October -8.
