DUNEDIN CENTRE EXECUTIVE. Tho first meeting of the newly-eicctnd members for the incoming season was hold last evening, Mr F. J. Campbell in tho chair. The delegates present were Messrs A. MTvenzie, W, T. Henaghan, W. Jacobsen, W. Wright, A. J. Sullivan, D. M. Pastier, W. T. Easton, J. Uarraway, R. H. Todd, and W. Connor. The Chairman briefly welcomed new and old members of tho executive, also congratulating Mr Pastier on his election to the council.

Correspondence was received from the Mornington Club, inviting members of the executive to the opening of the club improvements on Thursday, September 4. Invitation accepted.

Mr Rowley, secretary of Leith Bowling Club, forwarded set of proposed rules and sample of colors (brown with gold facings). —Secretary to give any information necessary.

It was resolved that the local council representatives should bo instructed to support the green test, also that the date of test be imprinted on bowls. Southland Centre wrote appreciating Mr E. Harraway's action in presenting a shield for the Southland-Otago Centres match.

Mr Pastier, a newly-elected councillor, asked for guidance on the question of alterations in tho manner of conducting tho association tournament. It was understood that Wellington wished rinks only, and Christchurch was inclined to favor links and singles only.—Discussion ensued, and the general opinion seemed to be in favor of rinks and doubles if any competition was to be cut out.

Mr Fustier also spoko in regard to the method of electing gentlemen to the council. A matter that would bo brought before the council at the September meeting was that the constitution should be altered in the direction of declaring that tho members elected by a centre should become members of tho council.—Mr J. Harraway moved and Mr Easton seconded—“ That iu the election for council members for tho Dominion Bowling Association the votes cast for the local members by any centre should determine the representatives for that centre.”—Tho discussion was taken in committee, and the motion was carried.

The matter of a shield rink competition was then considered at length, opinion being much divided. Eventually it was moved by Mr Sullivan and seconded by Mr j Hasten that a shield rink competition be | instituted, clubs to be at liberty to select their representatives any , way they might choose. —Mr Fastier moved and Mr Jacobsen seconded as an amendment that links found only by competition be entered.—-On a vote tlio motion was carried, and the date for tho contest was fixed for Elderly Bowlers’ Day. When tho method of conducting the 'champion of champions match came up Mr W. Connor proposed a different scheme. Ho suggested that the games be played in sections of four, which would avoid players meeting each other two or three times. — It was resolved that the matter be considered by a sub-committee comprising Messrs | Connor, Pastier, and Wright, to report at I next meeting. I It was resolved that pairs be played at the Christmas tournament, and rinks only ' a t Easter time, a consolation contest to bo i be 10s a player for the premier rinks and held at Easter if necessary. Entry fee to 2s 6d for tho consolation rinks. The entry feu for the Christmas doubles was set at 15s per pair. It was resolved that entries for the interclub matches and four-rink games should close on Saturday, September 13.
