(Received July 29, at 12.45 p.m.) Sir Keith Smith saya that flight from England to Australia by airship in ten days is a commercial possibility within two years. Great airships are now being rebuilt by the Vickers firm for this service. They will use crude oil instead of petrol, avoiding the danger of fire, which is one of the greatest hazards in the former typo of airships. The Vickers airships will have capacity for 100 passengers and their baggage. Ships already built will bo used for making experimental flights. Meanwhile Vickers arc constructing two air vessels to inaugurate the actual service.—Sydney ‘ Sun ’ Cable. AMERICAN NOTE TO PERSIA. WASHINGTON, July 28. (Received July 29, at 12.45 p.m.) America has sent a Note to Teheran threatening to break off relations with Persia unless those who are guilty are punished for the murder of the Consul (Major Imbrie). The Note demands a guarantee for the protection of American officials in Persia. —Sydney ‘ Sun ’ Cable. DISARMAMENT PREMATURE. LONDON, July 28. (Received July 29, at 1.25 p.m.) In the Commons, Mr R. MacDonald, replying to Commander Kenwortliy, said the Government regarded the reduction of armaments as one of the essential conditions of national security. It required, however, to bo prepared for hy a policy which would create confidence between the nations. Any ill-timed move would do incalculable harm. —Router. LONDON CONFERENCE. LONDON, July 28. (Received July 29, at 1-25 p.m.) The Plenary Conference sat for an hour and a-lialf this afternoon. It is understood that it was decided to refer the question of inviting the Gorman representatives to meet the heads of the five Allied delegations. There was a certain amount of disagreement over the report of tiie First Committee on the question of German default, and it was decided to call-a further meeting of the committee on Wednesday morning.—Reuter’.
