The half-yearly mooting of Good Intent Lodge was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Mosgiel, on Wednesday. Tho lodge was opened by A.D. Bro. J. Tait. The balance-sheet for tho half-year and tho auditor’s report were adopted. D.P. Bro. Workman (No. 2 district), assisted by P.G.P. Bro. Walsh, installed tho following officers for the ensuing six monthsl.P.A., Bro. J. Tait; A.D., Bro. W. Johnston; V.A., Bro. D. Thomson; secretary, Bro. T. Sincaton (re-elected); treasurer, Bro. T. Dallas; 1.G., Bro. J. Anderson; O. Bro. A. Joyce; M. 0., Bro. J, Davidson; A.D. Bards, Bros. W. Turnbull and A. Harris; V.A. Bards, Bros. F. Stoddart and J. Murdoch; minute secretary, Bro. A, Jeffs (reelected). A hearty vote of thanks was accorded tho installing officers. P.G.P. Bro. Walsh, cn behalf of the Board of Management, presented P.D.P. Bro. 11. H. Thomson with a past district president’s diploma, and spoke of tho able manner in which ho had carried out his duties as D.P. of No. 2 district. It was decided to enter a team for the 11. S, shield competition. Guo candidate was initiated. The lodge was favored with a visit from two members of tho Board of Management (P.G.P. Bro. Walsh and P.A. Bro. Smellie) and D.P. Bro. Workman, of No. 2 district. Pride of Momiugtou held its fortnightly meeting on Thursday. Tho visitors present were Sister Wilson, of Queen of tho Oak, Canterbury, and V.A. Bro. Lloyd, of tho Endeavor, Oaraaru. Two names wore proposed for membership. The toast of “The Visitors” was ably responded to by both visitors, after which the lodge adjourned to carry out tho main function of the evening—a “hard up” night. All the lodge members wero suitably attired, and some of tho costumes were very cleverly thought out. Supper consisted of saveloys and potatoes served on cabbage leaves. A spirit of revelry was created, musical and vocal items being rendered by the members. Secretary Bro. Birt gave a bagpipe selection, and P.A. Bro. Oliver gave some amusing anecdotes. The Ivanhoo Lodge hold its annual reception to tho officers of Grand Lodge and all past officers above tho rank of P. as well as the past and present officers of tho Royal Arch Chapter. A.D. Bro. A. Brockie presided over a full meeting, more than 100 brethren being present. Prior to the commencement of tho entertainment section of the evening’s proceedings, nine candidates wero initiated. This initiation on masse received pointed attention, because it is becoming generally known amongst the brotherhood that a keen spirit of rivalry exists between Acorn Lodge, No. 4, Invercargill, nnd Ivanhoe Lodge, No. 17, Dunedin. In each lodge there is a mini bored dial with two bands, ono for each lodge, and these hands are kept pointed to the total number initiated in each lodge. _ This block initiation has put Ivanhoo in tho load; hut it is a long time to the end of November. After tho initiation the fallowing presentations wero made:— Bro. R. Reid, a P.A. collar; Bro. J. T. Faulds, a P.A. diploma; and Bro. A. Wilkinson, P.D.P., a medal for introducing eleven candidates. 6.V.P, Bro. A. B. Churchill officiated in each instance. D.P. Bro. Walker presented tho popular master of ceremonies, Bro. J. Simmons, with a marshal’s baton to still further enhance tho dignity of his office. Supper was served and the following programme carried through:— Toast, “King and Druids,” chairman; song/Bro. A, Hudson; toast, “Grand Lod"o Officers and Board of Management,” Bro. A. T. Smith (Grand Lodge reply, Bros. Churchill nnd Oliver) ; recitation (humorous), Mr Henry; toast, “ P.G.P.s,” Bro. J. T. Faulds (reply Bros. Jack and Walsh); song, Bro. A. Hudson; toast, “ P.D.P.s,” Bro. J. Simmons (reply, Bro. Knox) ; trumpet solo, Bro. W. B. Fowler: toast “D.P.s Nos. 1 and 2 Districts,” Bro R. Reid (reply, Bros. Walker and Workman): song, Mr Henry; toast, “Rova-l Arch Chapter,” Bro. Olliver, G.G.' (reply, Bro. G. Thornpson)j toast, “ Ivanhoe Lodge,” Bro. .V. B. Churchill (reply, Bro. A. Bmckic). The Otago Lodge held its usual nicotine- in the hall, "Rattray street, A.D. Bro Madigan presiding over a fair attendance. ° Tho item on the syllabus (sintr, recite, or pay a silver com) was earned out. an amusing evening being soent. P.G.P. Bro. Reid was a welcome visitor. The members wore notified that a “hard-up” night would take place on tho following lodge night. The officers, of Court Woodland’s Pride will attend.
