At the conclusion of the League football match yesterday a. wild demonstration occurred among members in the. pavilion, and the referee, T. M'Mahon, was assaulted. The trouble followed the ordering o(T of the Australian forward Potter on a charge of striking an opponent-. "When the referee left the field he was mobbed, and a free fight was narrowly averted. Potter and Paeon, (he English t-hree-ouar-ter-baek, went to the referee's assistance, and with the arrival of a .squad of police the- trouble cooled off.
