. MEETING CP DIRECTORS. The adjourned meeting of the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition Company way held yesterday afternoon. Those present were Messrs J. Sutherland Hoes (chairman), C. Speight, C. Todd, T. Somerville, W. R. Hayward, A. Harnett, P. Harr, H. F. Sincock, P. L. llalstcd, and i tho Mayor (Mr H. L. Tapley). i TENDERS. I In connection with tenders for Nos. 7 and 8 buildings, the Chairman mentioned that they had to decide this matter by June 23. They had to decide whether they were going on or not. —It was de cidod to defer consideration in tho mcan- , time. j WORKS COMMITTEE. I The Works Committee submitted tho following report on a meeting hold on June 19:— Tho Chairman stated that the Works Committee, along with Mr Todd, Mr Idions and Mr R.. S. Croc Brown (engineer), had met at Logan Park on 16th iust., and were satisfied that progress had been made with regard to the surface drainage of the area preparatory To the buildings being erected. Mr Simpson stated that he had left the meeting of directors before the acci'plancc of a tender for buildings way decided upon. He also stated that he had strongly advised tindirectors in favor of g.c. iron for walls Tho Secretary reported that the National Electrical Company had put in a quotation for the installation of electric turnstiles. Tho question of tho installation of a ticket-issuing machine had 'boon referred to the Finance Committee for consideration.— It was resolved that consideration of the. National Electrical Company’s quotation be. deferred until the Finance Committee had made a decision. The Secretary submitted an application from Messrs Fletcher and Love to have water laid on to the grounds. He also read a report by Mr R. fci. (free Brown on a meeting of a sub-cornmitt.ee and .Messrs Wilkie, Love, Idiens, and Cree Brown held oil June 16. After consideration it was resolved to recommend Hie directors to approach the City Council to have er Union street metalled to the full width of Union street. With regard to the ac- ; quisiiion of land for a tramway loop, tho Chairman explained that the town clerk was at present in communication with the Harbor Board regarding the matter. It ■ was resolved to recommend the directors : to proceed with tho grading of 500 ft x I 100 ft of surface opposite the end of the grand court, in view of the ceremony of turning the first sod on 26'. h rust. GENERAL. Tho award rules and the classification of goods for judging purposes are under consideration hy the committee, which submitted a progress repot t of its work. In reply to a suggestion that Knox Church might desire to purchaser an organ if the same were purchased for exhibition purposes during tho currency of the Exhibition, tile clerk at Knox Church Dea eons’ Court wrote stating that owing to commitments entered upon ;n connection with expensive additions to the Sunday school buildings, the Deacons’ Court could not at present entertain the proposal. Should the purchase of the organ be justified tiie church might he ki a- position to consider the proposal at a later date.— Received.
