In the House of Commons Mr N. E. Buxton (Minister of Agriculture) announced that 3,060 cases of foot-and-mouth disease had been reported since August. Thirtynine English counties were affected, and eleven in Scotland and two in Wales. Tlio outbreak had resulted in the slaughter of 103,138 cattle, 42,969 sheep, and _ 47,693 pi<rs. The compensation payable is estimated at 3,237,000.—5ydney ‘ Sun ’ Cable.
