Mr J. Wheatley (Minister of Health), who attended, declared that the time was ripe for legislative town-planning powers in order to prevent tho muddled development which wo had inherited. He was not surprised to loam that’Bo per ccnh of Britain's population was in the urban areas, but lie was amazed to find that Australia’s percentage was 60 and that of Canada 50. Ho announced that the Government would give every encouragement to local authorities attempting town planning.—A, and N.Z. Cable.
