The council of the New Zealand Amateur A.thelctic Association last night carried, by 5 votes to 4, Mr Sievwright’s motion "to rescind the resolution granting a 50 per cent, refund of all the losse§ of centres on the American tour sports meetings; but a further motion by him to grant Wanganui a refund of £lO and Wairarapa a refund of £5 was lost by_ 5 votes to 4. Wanganui's Joss totalled £SO. The upshot is that the council retains all the profits of the tour. The council discussed in committee the question of sending a New Zealand 1 team to participate in the Australasian championship meeting at Hobart from February o to 9. The chairman afterword's stated that it had been left to the Selection Committee to select a hammer thrower, a pole vaultcr, a 440yds, and half-mile man, and also a 100yds and 220yds man, provided sufficient funds were forthcoming and the men’s performances in the meantime were up to the required standard. Rose, Munro, and Wilson had already been definitely selected to go, and J. W. M’Hohn, the hammer thrower, and G. Harvey, the polo vaultcr, were probables, provided the centre or clubs they represented were wi'.h'ng to find £ls towards the expense. It hY also been unanimously urged by (he council that it should bo represented by the chairman (Mr Davies) on the Hard of Control at the meeting at Hobart oa February 7. The Finance Committee had suggested an appeal to the general public for subscriptions towards sending the team away, and the council had approved this. Berths for eight men had been pencilled on the Mamma, leaving Wellington on January 25, and on the Riverina, leaving Sydney for Hobart on January 30. The Union Company had also been asked to delay the Riverina leaving Hobart for a few hours till the evening of February 9, So that the team could return by her. The team is expected back in Wellington on February 19.
